Depending on the project, you may create a legal task, supporting sources, a reference answer and scoring criteria, or review the criteria for an existing task. The opportunity describes which kind of work you’ll do. Explore an example.

Requirements differ by project. Some current roles require an active U.S. law license and current practice; others accept additional legal qualifications. Check the opportunity’s experience and location requirements. Remote does not always mean available everywhere.

Some projects require an assessment. Check the instructions for its length, permitted tools and whether assessment time is paid before beginning. An assessment does not guarantee an assignment.

Compare the project’s commitment with your availability. Some roles specify weekly hours; others require activity across several days or completed submissions each week. Flexible scheduling still comes with delivery and revision deadlines.

Each opportunity lists its rate and scope. Before starting, confirm how hours, completed tasks, revisions and payment are handled for that project. Project work does not guarantee ongoing hours.

Follow the project’s instructions. Some projects prohibit AI assistance during assessments and submitted work. Working on AI does not automatically mean you can use AI to complete the assignment.

Use only materials the project authorizes. Do not submit confidential client files or privileged material. Some projects require original work and prohibit reusing templates or previous assignments.

Projects can include review and revisions before a submission is accepted. Reviewers assess the work against the project’s criteria and may ask you to clarify, correct or expand it.
